Kiwis

Most birds can fly - Kiwis cant.
There’s even birds that are as tall as humans - kiwis aren't.
Some birds are very loud - certainly not kiwis. Many birds running really fast - this is something Kiwis are good at. Out running humans is one of my favourite thins they can do. Kiwis are also amazing at fighting with their tough feet

The average size of a kiwi is a foot ball. Their eggs are the size of six hen eggs “WOW”
The largest kiwi is the Great Spotted Kiwi. Its twice as large as the Little Spotted Kiwi.

Kiwi's plumage isn’t that exciting. It’s not colourful like a parrot, or smooth like a duck. It’s just plain brown with bits of blond. Whats even worse is their beak!! It can grow up to 20 cm long and is really known as a bill. Kiwis are a weird bird but I still think they are cool.

Many people see Kiwis with no wings. They think because they can’t fly. They don’t have wings , but really they do. If you ruffle your hand in their feathers, you will find a little claw the size of your little finger that is part of their wings

Cross Country

Oh No! I hoped this day would never come, but it has. It's Cross Country. The worst day of the year. Hope its postponed.

"Everybody line up outside please" called Miss Garden. "Cross Country is on" I cry in my head.I know I won't be able to finish it, I'll come last.

"Ten year old girls at the start line please". That's me. I start walking up in fear of the run. Oh I'm starting get butterflies and before I know it, I hear BANG !!! I start running and already I feel puffed out, with everybody watching it makes me even more nervous.

I need to keep going if I want to come in the top 5. I begin doing a little spurt past some girls as my breath is coming hard."Come on Kayla, your nearly there"I hear as I run. The finish line!!! I can see it. Now my legs start to power up the hill to finish.

"Keep running"I tell myself. I can hear people cheering for me. I have done it I've crossed the finish line knowing that I haven't come last. I came 5th. I'm so proud.

I really enjoyed Cross Country even though it was the longest, hardest and muddiest run, I still think I came a really good place.

The Polynesians come to New Zealand

About a thousand years ago the Polynesian people were the first to come to New Zealand. As they arrive they were known as the Maori’s. They travelled here from east Polynesian by their canoes witch are 15-25 meters long. They might have an outrigger, double hull, single hull or also a woven sail.

Did you know a long time ago, trained navigators had to sail across the stormy seas to get to Aotearoa? They had to search for signs of birds in direction to get to their destination. They also followed the stars in the sky as are always in the same place. Only a few people managed to get to Aotearoa.

Moving from London

Dear Diary

“My life is hard as it is “ I yell to my mum , but she doesn’t listen . “We are moving houses and that’s final ”.
“I hate this” I mumble under my breathe as I’m packing my bags .

With my new uniform on I’m ready to start school. I walk in the front gate and tell my self that I’m going to do fine , but guess what , as I walk past everyone makes a way for me. Girls are giggling and boys are saying “are you the new girl” . I blush in embarrassment and sigh with relive no one heard me ,when suddenly all I heard was laughter.
I’m telling myself “what a great first day” as I’m half crying .

After a few years later my mother and father had an important job back in London,so I had to stay with my nan . Her house is very beautiful and has a great view , but the worst thing is that it’ so far away from school. She has a pool that I usually play in as well .

One afternoon I’m playing in the pool when suddenly ,I see my nan just drop to the ground as she walks to her chair . I start to panic and think in my mind what do I and then it came to me . The phone . I have never done this before so I have no idea what to do .111 I dial as I try to wake up my nan . “Yes hi I need an ambulance to come to 47 Buckland road now ,I have unconscious woman here”.

I’ve been waiting in the hospital for my nan to wake for about 1 week when I see my mother and father walking towards me . “Is she OK “ my mother says in shock . “I don’t know “I tell my mum . “ Are you OK“ my father asks . “Yes” I tell him as my mum sighs in relive. “Nan “I call .” Your OK”. “Yes dear I’m fine”. “What happened” my mum says as they walk to the counter .”I just had a stroke” .

It’s been a few month’s now and my parents want to move back to London for good . I guess I should be happy but a bit sad . I’ll miss all my friends at St. Glens school and my nan . She will need someone to look after her in case of another emergency . “well that’s our flight “ calls my mum. “ can I have the set by the window asks my dad “.

In my trip to New Zealand I’ve learnt that it’s always good to try new things

Compound Word

Today we finally finished our project. We had to create a paper mache model of a compound word . We spent a lot of time making it but we eventually got through . Do think you can guess what it is ?

Here are some clues ,
1.It has a green saucer and has lots of layers.
2.Every layer represents a flavour
3. The layers are chocolate , banana and jelly tip
4.There are 4 toppings
5.The toppings are whipped cream, cherry, flakes and a candle . Have you guessed it yet?
comment to give me your guess
